About Benny
Benjamin Franklin Conway found us on Saturday, February
9, 2002, when he was only about 7 weeks old.
We do not know how long Ben had been searching. At around
10-o'clock that morning Bob saw him sitting under the front
bumper of our station wagon. He was shivering cold, hungry,
dirty, scared, and infested with worms. We gave him food,
water, and a bath. On the following Monday Carol took him to
our vet to have him checked out, de-wormed, etc. She asked
about contacting Ben's owner. The vet said, "Don't bother.
We've had calls from half a dozen people who've found little
Rottweiler pups. Someone has dumped them all over town."
Ben is becoming a great dog. He and our older dog,
Nipton are best buddies,
and he gets along well with most of our cats and virtually
all people and other animals. He's very gentle with babies.
Before 2002 we never would have considered acquiring
a Rottweiler, due to their undeserved bad reputation as 'mean'
dogs. Ben has taught us the truth: A dog is a dog.
Any young puppy's personality is somewhat malleable and tends
to be strongly influenced by its pack-mates. In the case of a
domesticated dog, the pack includes its human family. Now
we can't imagine life without Ben. A sweeter dog you'll
never meet.
